“Tuesday, May 18th, the world lost a great man. André Paureau passed late that morning, resting peacefully with his daughter by his side.
He charmed us with his flirty French ways and brilliant smile; and touched our hearts with his love of life and people. If he was ever given a moment, I’m sure he’s told you one of his many stories; being a part of the French Resistance at 13, then in Africa at 15, tromping through the jungles of Vietnam fighting for freedom, working as a chef stuffing hundreds of snails, dancing “ze salzza” professionally, building custom homes, selling airplanes, managing a band, or refinishing antiques. Or perhaps, my personal favorite: the one about building a fire under his dad’s brand new car when he was five years old, trying to “warm it up” as he had overheard his parents saying. Whatever your memories may be, let us celebrate our good friend.”
Today, family and friends are coming together to celebrate the life of André, on his birthday. Living with Steph in college, I was able to meet her dad on a few occasions. A short man with a thick French accent and his flirty ways, he could always make us laugh! He will definitely be missed by many.
